My main concern is the confusion it might create. Now that we are using cot's for salary information I'm just afraid adding this to the mix might cause more trouble than it is worth. Soon we'll need to write a novel next to guys Vlad Guerro (signed 2010 for 27 million, reprices 2011 - 15 million being paid for 2010 from Royals) etc etc etc then he gets traded again and it is more confusing still.

We are terrible at math. The computations and paperwork would be kinda scary. Finding it pretty hard to keep us with what we have to right now. heh

I had a question on what we're doing with players that retire.
Do we just drop them and anyone can pick them up or if we wanted to keep them could we send them down to the minors and like freeze their salary so if they do come out of retirement then it would count against the cap?
Kinda asking because of Billy Wagner and I wanna keep him in case he changes his mind but don't wanna pay the salary and keep a major league spot occupied by him either.

Well if he officially retires I wouldn't see why you would want to waste a roster spot on him but I suppose you could. Angels now has Jermaine Dye on a roster, although he hasn't officially retired. He would need to be stored on your MLB roster though as he exceeded 50 IP last year so he would take a roster spot and 1 million. I suppose you could keep him on your DL all year, still have to pay a million though.

What happened to our old team pages? I was keeping mine up to date as a backup and I also kept my transaction log on it.

Well, we decided they were uneeded as the majority of them had not been updated at all since the rosters were transfered. You could still create a backup roster rather easily by just copying and pasting your current roster into a word file and updating that. But the transaction log would be more of a hassle, if it means enough you could go through the approved trades and create another but that would take a while and I doubt it would be worth it, sorry about that.

This isn't a question but a clarification. BID RETRACTIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED. If you bid on a guy (especially if it is 2 million or more) there is no deleting that bid a few hours later. Doesn't matter if you changed your mind, got a new trade in the works and it doesn't fit in your plans anymore. A bid is a bid. It can effect the bidding process as another team might have bid 2 but not 3 and your retraction screws up the process. If you bid, win the guy, and later decide you made a mistake either tough luck or drop him and pay the 50% penalty.

it's like a house auction ... once you have put your bid in you can't take it back ...

New question.
I am seeking a ruling clarification. I have Scott Podsednik on my MLB roster. He has not had an MLB AB this year and is currently running around in the minors (actually on the DL but let's just say he's playing minors).
Can I send him down to my minors ?
I think the answer is no as he had more than 125 MLB ABs last year (2010) but I want to check.

We believe you are allowed to put him wherever you want. He is in the "real" minors, so why wouldn't you be allowed to roster him in your minors? It isn't as though you are stashing him there.
We had Nick Johnson 1B/CLE in our minors most of the early part of this season. he was (probably still is) rehabbing a bad wrist. We recently traded him, but until then we carried him on our minors roster.
Mariners is carrying Lastings Milledge on his MiLB roster, and Milledge has more than 125 MLB at bats. Probably many players of in this same category.

Just to be clear the rule is to be eligible to be placed in the milb the player needs 125 ABs or 50 IPs LAST SEASON not career. However, an exception is made when the player is in the actual minors as is the case with Podsednik. Really the point of the rule is to discourage people from stashing guys that are actually playing the MLB that aren't basically rookies.

Ok, next question.
When I was away I think I saw something about trimming rosters back at the All Star break.
We currently have 34 MLB slots (including 3 DL), 37 MiLB slots (2 DL) and 13 Rookie slots.
Can someone please help me with exactly what we are trimming the rosters to ?
I think it's : MLB - 31 + 3 DL MiLB - 45 + 2 DL (10 slots added to cover existing Rookie roster) Rookie - 13 empty slots that cannot be filled until 2011 draft.
It'll mean some trimming as I currently have all 84 slots filled and will have to dump 3.

and one more question ... may as well push my luck.
for those of us not likely to have 13 picks in the Rookie draft coming up in a couple of months, after the draft can we pick up undrafted kids to fill the 13 slots ?

It'll mean some trimming as I currently have all 84 slots filled and will have to dump 3. Exactly right. Day of the all-star game your milb roster goes from 35 (plus 2 DL) to 45 (plus 2 DL). If you have every spot on your rookie roster and every spot on your milb full 3 drops will need to be made. At that time all rookie roster players will be moved to milb, if there aren't room we will PM the team and give them 48 hours to say who they want to drop. If they don't respond we will drop the 3 drafted players from the latest rounds for that team. Shouldn't be a problem, most teams with roster completely full are very active. To answer your second question, yes you can fill your rookie roster with undrafted players AFTER the draft is completely finished. To put a player on your rookie roster he needs to be drafted in 2011 (and also a signed player). You can't add an unsigned player to your rookie roster who signs after the signing deadline in real life (ie, James Paxton this year, who was put up for bid). These guys are to be bid on not claimed. Any specific questions on a player just post and ask or PM me. Thanks, Royals

Next question.
All the bidding on this year's crop of International free agents got me thinking, if you bid $4M say for someone, how long do you carry that $4M salary for ?

You carry that until a new contract is renegotiated in real life (probably arbitration). You do not get to have him for 1 million as soon as he signs a MLB contract at the minimum for his first year.

I read somewhere that we have 3 DL spots to use on our roster. However ESPN only lets us use 2. Which one is it?
