Can everyone please vote on the poll so that we know where people's opinions sit.
Please don't post pages and pages of your opinion. This is not designed to end up in an arguement.

I'm comfortable with the majority ruling. If Tim confirms he's also good with that, every team can go ahead and increase their cap by $5M (please do not do this until Tim has confirmed OK to proceed).

I'm adding 5M on the spreadsheets now. Now we should talk about our future plans for adding cap. I'd be much more comfortable with a plan of action in place rather than just looking around every offseason as players salaries rise and saying "oh man, we should just throw everyone a bone because #PlanningIsHard"

I'd be much more comfortable with a plan of action in place rather than just looking around every offseason as players salaries rise and saying "oh man, we should just throw everyone a bone because #PlanningIsHard" I think TPB team average cap number should always be 5M above the MLB team average previous season's cap #. So in 2015 the MLB team average cap was apx 124M; TPB team average cap for 2016 should be 129M. It's not that planning is hard, it's keeping up with inflation and keeping TPB contracts to a minimum. I understand you and Reds don't have a problem with the league evolving to TPB contracts for a majority of the players, but it seems most owners do. If we froze TPB cap and allowed TPB contracts to become the norm, it would completely change the dynamic of the league and I would say we should then redraft and start over. Reds is a perfect example of a team this would benefit. Due to his impressive ability to stockpile IFA $ and draft picks, he has the market cornered on those fronts. He also has an impressive amount of cap space available due to not fielding a competitive team. If we froze TPB cap, in a couple years teams would not be able to keep up with free agent contracts and when the average salary on a free agent contract hits 25/30M, it would essentially force teams to drop their free agents. No decision would need to be made. It would probably be to the point where the league would wait until after the free agent signed his contract to bid on him (which is fine if the league is started off that way, but I think if we implement that huge of a change we should redraft the entire league and start from scratch).

As much as a redraft sounds awesome to me I don't think it is necessary. I do think the free agency process throws a wrench into planning as it requires more foresight than I posess. Getting stuck with a Chris Iannetta 4 m contract after being a a 1 tpb deal makes free agency planning/ continuity planning a bit dicey.
