So I signed Conlon about a month ago to a 6M dollar contract when it was announced that he signed as a Giant. This morning however, this was posted at MLBTraderumors.

I realize that I now have to release Conlon until he renters the draft process but is there a penalty on the 6M I'm paying him? Thanks in advance for the help.

My thoughts would be no since he never pitched in the Giants organization and failed their physical so the deal never really happened. Essentially he shouldn't have been able to be signed and we kinda jumped the gun on the bidding as he heads back to Texas A&M but I'll let the higher ups make an official ruling.

Agree, treat it like it never happened. we need to go back to "signed by" a contract and not "reached an agreement".

I don't think we need to change. This happens once every couple years or so that it matters.
