I am of the same mind as Rays. For young players without a full year in majors it is unduly limiting. I hope some that are entrenched in the status quo change their mind eventually. I'm willing to change. Someone lead a league discussion on what players should be eligible, how many Games and why. And I'm of the opinion that whatever the numbers are that are agreed to apply to every player, not just rookies. That is, if Fantrax allows for changes to their eligibility.

I think there's no way to change it on Fantrax -- but you can override them manually. It leads to some stupid situations but has always landed in the "could definitely be better but would be more work for someone" category for me. We could come up with a framework for how many games to apply for a position addition/change request. If a player meets the required number of games we set, make it the responsibility of that team Manager to put the request in a thread just like our MLB FA Adds thread we recently created and have Managers with Fantrax Admin capabilities make the override.

Right now it is a player has to play 20 games in a position the year before, or 10 in current year to eligibility. I'd propose to change that from 20/10 to 10/5. I'll look into Fantrax fields (if possible) to adjust to determine viability.

Just for clarification, we are absolutely not going to change to a ‘player by player’ assessment.
I’m more in line with the reduction to 10/5 to help the Aranda’s of this world.
If you haven’t played 10 games I find it hard to support a special dispensation to have him qualify at that position.

Yeah idk if we could just have like an appeal or something if someone hasnt played a certain number of games like with the rookies from my understanding. Cause like Aranda who played 34 games 11 at 1B 13 at 2B and only one at DH. Or what would happen if someone got hurt after a week and is done for year would they just be util eligible for the first 10 games of the following year?

Why are we still having this discussion. The need for change just isn’t there.

nobody is causing a big issue in regard to it...Comments are made, no one is making a stink out of it. Maybe it can be changed for next year,,,if not no big whoop.... no drama coming from this end

But I'd vote no if we were only looking to help rookie types like Aranda with a GP distinction and not all players

Fantrax operating rule is, if you haven’t played enough at any position to qualify for any position then you get designated whatever position you played the most. So for example, if I played 8 games, 5 at 3B and 3 at SS, I would be designated 3B the next year until I’ve played 10 games somewhere.

Aranda’s problem is he played 12 at DH, 11 at 1B, 4 at 2B and 2 at 3B so until he plays 10 games somewhere he’s a DH/UT only.
The numbers you quoted are 2022.
