Please note : Minimum Salary Rule modification.
Effective immediately, all $1M TPB contracts must be converted to minimum / base salary contracts (ie: $500K and they don't count against your cap if in MILB). Going forward, all $1M TPB contracts will count against your cap, even if they are in your MILB roster.
We understand that this will provide some franchises with some lucky savings. This is a rule change we should have implemented back when we dropped the minimum salary and minimum bidding but it's too late to change rules retrospectively so we are drawing the line in the sand.

I'm not understanding this. Are you saying guys on my major league roster with one mil TPB contracts like Eduardo Escobar and Jose Veras now cost just $500K?
And how does this affect bidding going forward?
I'm probably just reading this all wrong. Just need it explained in a different way I guess.

That is correct. Rather than waste hours trying to find out what players were signed to $1M contracts before we dropped the minimum bids to $500K, we are err'ing on the side of giving a bonus to people. Veras and Escobar become $500K contracts.
As for bidding going forward, using the current bids for Pierzynski and Boyer as examples, the bids are $1M and WILL count against cap, even if the players are placed on MILB roster.
The main reason for this rule change is that there are a number of players who are placed on MILB rosters with $1M contracts but not counting against cap. This rule should have come in when we dropped the minimum bidding but it is what it is.
Does that help ?

Further to this rule, I didn't outline this above but as part of this rule all drops of $1M players going forward WILL incur a 50% penalty of $500K.
