4.2) You may release any player that you owned all season at the end of that season without occurring any penalty. If you release a player during the season you will incur a penalty (see 4.3) until the off-season at which time it will be removed from the record. However, any player acquired during the season must be dropped prior to the end of that season with penalty applied until the off-season. Failure to drop such player prior to the season's end will result in the penalty being applied for the remainder of the off-season and entire next season.
By "prior to the end of that season" are we talking October 2nd (last day of MLB regular season this year) or prior to the final game of the IRL World Series?
I'm thinking about this from a couple perspectives:
1) Rental players acquired during the season that helped a team reach the TPB World Series (which also runs through October 2nd this year) 2) Trades for playoff teams that will process after the TPB World Series will process after the drop deadline if we're saying that the drop deadline is Oct 2nd. Which side of the deadline would conditional drops fall on?

End of the MLB regular season to drop players so that you will have no penalty in the off season. 11:59pm OCT 2. is what i understand it to be.

And what if I announce a drop on Oct 2nd after 1st pitch? Thinking of a scenario where CC Sabathia is making a start and I need him in the World Series for example.
