Over the next week or so, I will be reviewing the existing league rules for the purpose of cleaning them up, defining any open issues and consolidating where possible. I am not taking on any rule changes as the league already has a process in place. If you know of anyplace where the rules are unclear or just wrong, let me know in this thread. I’ll notify everyone when I have a draft ready for review. thanks, john NYY.

Better late than never but I will get this project done between the end of the season and the draft. I know I will have a number of questions or will need clarification from the rest of the league. What is the best way to go about it? I could set up a thread for clarification or message the Executive Committee. Who gets final say? This exchange between Brew & Braves from today is a good example of clarification needed: I thought you had to wait a week to claim someone you dropped? Nah, used to be a month for MLB free agents but we’ve never had a time limit on prospects. Gotcha I was just using this from the rules: 4.5) If a manager releases a player, the player becomes a free agent. If the player in question is not bid on or claimed within one week of becoming a free agent, the last owner of the player can bid or claim that player. The claiming manager would still be responsible for the 50% penalty when the player was originally released until the end of the Regular Season. If Manager (B) bids on and wins the player and then releases the player within a week. The Manager who owned the player before Manager (B) can bid on the now free agent because the non-ownership timeline of one week was broken and the week waiting period only now would exist for Manager (B). tripleplaybaseball.proboards.com/thread/16637/re-acquiring-released-free-agents

Yeah think that rule is directed more for MLB players than prospects

It says claim in it which would indicate a minor league player (prospect) which is why I always assumed that was the rule.
I could be wrong and if I am I didn't mean to start all this stuff. I've seen Keith wait the week to claim a player again and since that's been in place I've always thought it was the rule.

2.2) Your minor league players can be placed onto three different rosters. A 60 player roster consisting of any players in the minor leagues, a 20 player Rookie Roster consisting of players draft eligible in the TPB Amateur draft (drafted, UDFA from that year, or otherwise obtained) and a 10 player International roster for IFA's in Rookie ball or low A ball.
Its a 70 man and no ifa roster now right?

Don’t be sorry, I want people to challenge where we have holes so that we can fix them. Per your point, this rule needs clarifying. Thank you

I know it may mean a bunch of scrolling but also go through the league wide PMs I have sent over the last few years as most of the rule changes are in those. And thank you so much for taking on this enormous task, I really appreciate it.

Since this was a hot topic, we'll start here. Please comment/correct as needed.
Section 10:
10. Playoffs
The playoffs begin week 20
Playoff seeding will be determined by winning percentage within each league.
Playoffs will consist of the 12 top teams, 6 each from each League. (3 division winners & 3 Wild Cards from each of the AL & NL).
All Division winners make the playoffs even if their winning percentage is lower than some/all Wild Card teams.
Two Division winners with the best records (winning %) in each league will get first round byes. The remaining AL & NL Division winner will get the #3 seed and will face off against the #6 seed from among the 3 WC teams from their respective league.
The first round will be one week.
Round 2 of the playoffs will have the 1 & 2 seeds match-up against the winners of 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 matchups. #1 will match up against highest seed/#2 vs. lowest seed.
Round 2 winners advance on to the ALCS & NLCS each lasting two weeks.
ALCS & NLCS winners match-up for a two-week League Championship

Week 2, 1 plays winner of 4v5, 2 plays winner of 3v6, no reseeding. Normal bracketing rules apply, ideal semi final 1v4, 2v3

Section 8.2 & 8.3 can be removed from the League rules
8.2) A player who is demoted from a TPB manager’s MLB team to the 60 man farm will incur an option. A player can have 3 options (per owner), after the 3rd option the player will go to waivers and if claimed you have 48 hours to reclaim them and move them back to your MLB roster.
8.3) When you promote or demote a player(s), the player’s name, MLB team name or abbreviation should be in the title and the body of the post. In the body of the post you must post what team you control and what roster the player is being promoted or demoted to. You must also note if an option is being used in the move. You must then record the option number beside the player on your team roster page.
