Can we look to bump up the max cap, possibly by 5 Million? I would like to sell my draft picks too!

Doesn't really make sense to bump the max if we aren't seeing an increase.

Fwiw - my gut said ‘no’ when seeing the thread bumped again. John’s numbers back that up. Seems like a more simple decision than usual this off-season to hold the cap where it’s at.

I just want to point out that when I (as Indians) started this thread almost five years ago, I had the largest Salary Cap in the League and was trying to figure out how to fit slary increases to Mike Trout and Max Scherzer, among others, under a limit of $160M. I now have no players and a tone of cap space so I want to see top teams dumping solid guys for FA bidding. Not sure I'm the most unbiased guy here right now. Trying to reconcile what Cleveland's current Cap should be and it looks to me like it was 160M here, and i believe there was a 5M increase to the max one year....I'm thinking TPB Cleveland should probably be at 165M Cap

Back when I made the suggestion I was the Cleveland Indians -- hence the newchiefwahoo call sign, although that is only on chat. Then I left the League for a couple years and came back to take over the Giants. See? Simple. I told you. Really simple.

I think it’s time we revisit this topic.

I’ve been watching the chat, in particular I agree with Chris. I know I for one, have already made trades and drops that I wouldn’t have made had I known there was a cap increase coming through. I know I’m not the only one.
I’m happy to revisit cap and agree on an increase if the majority decides it’s necessary but it would have to come into effect November 1, 2023. Otherwise we’re just bailing out those that can’t manage their finances properly.
In line with any cap increase, I would also propose that 2024 contracts where known (not arb projections, only where contracts are set in stone), are to be adjusted BEFORE Free Agency (ie: within the week immediately following the end of the regular season).

I agree with Andrew. We can also see about a proactive approach to increases, if Jon has a good plan for that

I agree with Andrew. We can also see about a proactive approach to increases, if Jon has a good plan for that I agree. Jon sounds like he has a good plan and I think if we allow him to lay the plan out and implement it. It would be "consistent" as he put it. It would eliminate these pop-up discussions to raise the cap for bailouts, if we have this mechanism in place. So if we're in favour of this discussion. Have Jon lay his plan out and we put it to a League Vote.
